President Asif Ali Zardari appointed Justice Yahya Afridi as the 30th Chief Justice of Pakistan, following the retirement of Qazi Faez Isa. Based on the parliamentary committee’s recommendation, the appointment was approved on the advice of PM Shehbaz Sharif. Justice Afridi will serve a three-year term, starting October 26, under Articles 175A(3), 177, and 179 of the Constitution.
